New ballast carrier: lighter weight, even stronger

It may sound somewhat contradictory, but KS Systems has developed a new ballast carrier for solar carrier systems that is not only lighter, but also stronger.

Leading the market

Sustainability and cost efficiency are at the forefront of the solar industry. To achieve sustainability, we cooperate with partners who, like us, are constantly working on new developments. Together we develop mounting systems for flat roofs. Our R&D department plays a major role in this.

Lighter ballast carrier

We aim to use green steel. To make that possible, we look at each product, each component, to see how we can optimize it to reduce the number of tons of steel needed.

Solar mounting systems on flat roofs need ballast supports. It ensures that the system stays safely on roofs. The ballast carrier carries the tiles that make up the ballast. We started looking for a lighter profile strong enough to carry the ballast.

Investing in green steel

Our developers have intensively researched the minimum thickness they can apply for ballast supports without compromising quality and safety. By developing an omega profile, we save on steel and even improve functionality.

Because less steel is needed, we can invest in green steel. The demand for green steel is increasing and it is important to have concrete applications and solutions with green steel. We are the first to apply green steel in these specific products. An important choice for sustainability.
